Barielle New York Style Collection (Fall/Winter 2012)

It is officially Fall and while I'm not excited at the prospect of the weather starting to turn, it is my favorite when it comes to polish colors. Barielle does not disappoint with two new collections, New York Style and Runway Fever, released for the season. Barielle Big Apple Red
A classic bright red which is a staple of most nail polish collections. It has a very nice and smooth formula. While I would classify this as a cream, it does have a hint of jelly-like quality to the formula. It took two coats to reach my desired opacity. Barielle Central Park
Medium dusty forest green cream. Formula is nice, maybe slightly thicker than I prefer. It is very pigmented and can provide full coverage in one thick or two average coats. I used two coats with no top coat for the swatches here. I'm actually excited to try this as a stamping polish since it is a bit thicker and very pigmented. I'll report on that later...

Barielle Soho at Night
A dusky plum purple cream with a bit of a squishy jelly feel. I love, love, love this color. The photos just don't do it justice. It reminds me a bit of Zoya Monica from the Designer collection. I'll try to do a comparison of the two. Two coats for full coverage. Swatches are with no top coat...

Barielle Fifth Avenue Boutique
A pink coral cream. This also has some jelly to the formula. Unlike the rest of the polishes in this collection, it took three coats to build up to full coverage. It is a bit more pink in real life than what shows on my monitor. The camera tends to give me "carrot" hands with these shades. The formula is very nice, dries slightly darker than bottle color. No top coat in the swatches...

Barielle Greenwich Village
A nude cream with a green shimmer. Yup! Green shimmer and I absolutely love it. This might be my favorite from the collection, although Soho at Night is a strong contender. I couldn't get the light just right for the shimmer to show well in the swatches. I will have to catch the sunshine and show this beauty in a better light. This surprised me needing only two coats for full coverage. No top coat used...

The pretty shimmer shows well in the bottle and does show up similarly on the nail. It needs direct light to be seen best...

Barielle: Some Like It Hot Collection

Hello everyone! Today I have for you swatches of the new Barielle Some Like It Hot collection. It consists of five polishes including four creams and one metallic shimmer. All are bright and perfect for summer. Without further delay, I hope you enjoy these beauties...

Gotta Have Fate
A coral orange cream. It has a nice very slightly jelly cream formula. Starts out a bit sheer, but builds up after three coats. It dries ever so slightly darker than the bottle color. The color has just enough coral to make this really wearable for me. Swatches are with no top coat...

Life of the Party
A pink cream. The formula is very pigmented and has good coverage with two coats. It is a bit on the thick side, but no major problems with application. Just a nice pink cream. Swatches are with no top coat...

Lily of the Valley
A shimmery metallic green. It is brighter on the nail than in the bottle. The formula provides full coverage with just two coats, however, the it is a bit thin and I had some trouble wrapping it around the tips. The shimmer just didn't want to stick. Wrapping trouble aside, the color is beautiful so it was well worth it....

Sunshine
A bright yellow cream with just the slightest hint of a shimmer. I do love that touch of a shimmer in creams like this. Formula was great for a yellow, two coats for full opacity and no streaking. I know yellow is a hard color to wear, but I have been loving it this summer. Swatches are with no top coat...

Surf's Up
A bright blue cream. This is very very pigmented. You can almost get away with just one coat, but I used two to even out the coverage. I don't know if it is the brightness of the color or the shade of blue, but it really bleached out my already pale skin. Also this thing stained my nails big time even with a base coat. You can already see the "black eyes" on my index and middle finger where I got a bit color happy and had to clean the cuticles. My nails were completely blue after taking this off. Luckily, I remembered the whitening toothpaste trick from Another Bottle of Polish?! and it worked beautifully. I highly recommend it for fresh staining! I'm sad I didn't snap a before and after photo, but I hope you'll forgive me for not wanting to repeat the staining. On the plus side, I bet this will be perfect for stamping and since I don't have a good stamping blue yet, I'm excited to have this...
